Buddies? What does it mean to be a Buddy?

Buddies are women (21 years-old or older) who take on the challenge of accompanying a formerly prostituted woman into a new future. Buddies bond with the participants of the Compass Program, encourage and help them to put into practice what they have learned.
Buddies are there to help participants through disappointments and lack of motivation and help them back up when they are down.
Buddies celebrate achievements, big or small, with the participants and help them to recognize their potential.

What qualifies me to be a Buddy?

You have a heart for people who want to break out of extreme circumstances, which have probably affected them mentally and emotionally.
You already have experience working with people and problems that might arise do not easily upset you.
You are a person who thinks positively and can encourage others.
You are dependable, trustworthy and complete tasks wholeheartedly.
It is not a problem for you to participate in an initial Buddy Training, so that you are well-prepared for this job.
You have the capacity to spend 2-3 hours on one day per week with your assigned participant in order to build trust as well as to help her put into practice what she has learned.
You will gladly participate in reflection meetings with other Buddies and celebrate the achievements of the participants.

Yes, I would like to be a Buddy. What now?

Great! We are excited that you want to take on this important role which will facilitate the women standing on their own two feet.

The Kompass programme will be implemented in many cities. If you do not yet have contact with a local organisation that works with people affected and could carry out the Kompass programme, please contact our alliance "Together against Human Trafficking" by e-mail. There you can get in touch with people in your area, especially in Berlin, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Nuremberg and Karlsruhe - but also in many other cities.

If you know someone who might be interested, please let them know! Thank you.
